A medical biller’s primary role is to process insurance claims and ensure that a company gets paid for its work. This skill is something that recruiters should see in your resume when you apply for a medical billing job. If you have no idea how to write your curriculum vitae, these few tips will make your curriculum vitae stand out and increase your chance of getting the job.
Be Organized
The one thing that makes your resume most likely to be thrown out without a second glance is disorganization. There are various templates found online for writing your resume. Take a look at the multiple examples and select the one that looks most pleasing to the eye. It should be both professional and aesthetic. The numerous sections should have enough space in-between and be easy to read. This way, the recruiters can get whatever information they are looking for quickly.
Include a Professional Summary
One thing you need to ensure you get on your resume is your professional summary. If you have more than two years of experience, then you might want to go with an overview of your qualifications. This way, you only highlight what stands out in your career. Ensure you use the language of numbers like % and $ as this will show you know what you are doing.
If you don’t have a professional summary, that’s no problem! Include your life skills in place of experience, such as excellent customer service, punctuality, and organization.
Show Your Work Experience
While you may have done a couple of jobs over time, it would take up too much space to write them down. For this reason, ensure you list jobs that had the most impact on your career. Start with the most recent and work your way down. This is what the recruiters will use to see how well you know your trade.
If you have no relevant experience, you should still include your work history. Ideally, you’ll list your last three jobs. Even if you’ve never worked in the medical field before, employers like to see what you’ve done.
Include an Education Section
Other than the jobs you have done, most recruiters would also love to see the kind of education you got. You need to include this in the resumes. List the schools you went to starting with the most recent as you go back in time. If you have done any additional classes related to the medical world, include it in your resume. That is a massive advantage in the long run.
Don’t count yourself out if you only have a high school diploma/GED and the medical billing certification. You don’t need a college degree to get into this fantastic career – just the certificate!
There is a lot that goes into getting noticed in the application process. After completing your resume, you can search for various medical billing courses if you feel like it’s lacking. This will help you select a course that will build up your skills while sprucing up your resume. Recruiters want the best candidate to fill their open positions. With the right resume, it can be you!
